If I defend myself, I am attacked, is the basic teachings of my savior Jesus Christ. The admonition, in his Sermon on the Mount, that you forgive your enemy, is a very, very simple statement that your enemy is you. When you defend yourself, you are defending yourself from your own attack thoughts, and you employ, within your defensive mechanism the idea of, what is good, and what is bad, and what will bring you happiness and what will cause you fear. Sometimes, when I begin to teach this lesson, there will be a connection to the idea that not only do you have to give up bad things that you, but you have to give up the things that you Love. That’s exactly the opposite of my teaching. Everything that you Love will always be with you. Nothing that you fear will ever be. God only Loves. The idea that you are separate from the entirety of the Love of God is the occupation, advocation, and location of you in your body form. That’s why the teachings of the resurrection of Jesus Christ are so important. This hour is going to begin to discuss with you; is peace possible in this world? Now, the idea that it is possible for us to find peace within conflict, is what the idea of time is, space/time. My idea, that it is possible for us, in our individual recognition of our true association, in the galaxies, in everything that’s out in the Universe, gives us a moment of correspondence, were we simply recognize each other. Let’s look at it this way. If this world was over and gone a long time ago, all of the parameters that we establish within our relationship with each other are to justify our association as separate from what everything is. All I want you to see with me, is this is the time and place where you lay judgment aside sufficiently, to recognize your own wholeness. Now, the particulars of the connection to this teaching, with the previous hour, would be, very important to you, because the message is going to be that the salvation of the world is up to you, and that if you will utilize the message of Jesus, certainly not as it’s connected to this world, Jesus has no connection to this world whatsoever, except to offer you the entirety of (his certainty) of your innocence. Do you see that? Yet it still depends on you, doesn’t it? The idea that you have an objective god, who is going to judge our relationships with each other, is what our individual judgment is. Certainly I never had anything to do with a god, within the particulars of my human condition that would have something to do with this. I didn’t know what the solution was, but I knew somewhere, reasonably, it had to be contained in our ideas of our relationship with each other. This is why my advocation is teaching, and through the practice of teaching, I learn. OK? Remember this now, everyone teaches, all the time, but they cannot teach more than at that moment they believe about themselves. If you don’t become recalcitrant, if you don’t enclose the ideas of your definition of yourself as a teacher, you can offer to your students a continuing revelation, based on not your teaching mechanism, but the recognition that the pupil can offer more, many times, than the teacher thought was possible. I come from long history of teaching, like seven generations. While we don’t practice the idea that we are inborn with it, everybody is inborn with abilities, including you. The ability to offer solutions to every single problem that’s present in all of the Universe, is yours to make. The offering that I give you, in the conveyance of light and Love, that justifies our association with each other, is always to offer you more than you have been willing to accept, within your own concepts. Now, the light has come in to your association with yourself, and at this moment you are healed, because light and truth and Love abide with us. Four minutes, make it three minutes, about the light that you now see. Listen. It is important to remember that miracles and vision necessarily go together. This needs repeating, and frequent repeating. It is a central idea in your new thought system, and the perception that it produces. Listen. The miracle is always there. Its presence is not caused by your vision; its absence is not the result of your failure to see. It is only your awareness of miracles that is affected. You will see them in the light; you will not see them in the dark. Here we are. So the moment that you laid down that judgment, for just a moment, in the correspondence of yourself, you were healed and whole and perfect as you were created. And teachers of God that are going out into the world are sharing new parameters of consciousness that they are arriving at, through the relinquishment of judgment, and dependence on God. Just one more paragraph. To you, then, light is crucial. While you remain in darkness, the miracle remains unseen. Thus you are convinced it is not there. This follows from the premises from which the darkness comes. Denial of light leads to failure to perceive it. Failure to perceive light is to perceive darkness. The light is useless to you then, even though it is there. You cannot use it because its presence is unknown to you. And the seeming reality of the darkness makes the idea of light meaningless. I am going to do one more paragraph. This is the teaching of relinquishing judgment. To be told that what you do not see is there sounds like insanity. It is very difficult to become convinced that it is insanity not to see what is there, and to see what is not there instead. You do not doubt that the body’s eyes can see. You do not doubt the images they show you are reality. Why? Your faith lies in the darkness, not the light. How can this be reversed? For you it is impossible, but you are not alone in this. One thing for sure, we are teaching the necessity for transformation of your mind. And since you have identified yourself as a human being, occupying this space/time, on this little mud-bal, circling around this little sun with billions of stars, and billions of galaxies out there, in which you seem to be unable to participate. It’s necessary in a very fundamental sense, that you acknowledge the possibility of the conversion of your mind, and indeed that has already been accomplished by the idea of the formulation of your self identity, because you go about in this world, you seek for solutions that are justified by this world, you live in a parameter of the idea of sequential time, and you die. And suddenly, I’ll use Jesus, who is my savior, appeared here in this time frame that you think is two thousand years ago, actually it was last week, OK, he is right here now, and the first thing he said to you, is you’re not from here. First thing he said is your father has never told you the truth. The first thing he said is the whole truth of what you are, is available, through me, and you can see we can share together, the idea of our wholeness, and until you can come to it, within your own perception, I will represent you, in the light and Love that we share. So the lesson for today, addresses the idea, whether peace is possible, in this world. Certainly in the particulars of the offering of the necessity to undergo conversion, or experiences of whole alternatives, is in the fundamental cultural teachings of all human beings. But the idea of the entirety of the dependence on the change in your conceptual idea about yourself, which is the basic true teaching of Jesus Christ, has heretofore escaped you, and by you, I mean you, not others out in the world, who can only reflect back to you the judgment of associations within the illusion that is already over, that you continue to justify. But let’s read the lesson, let’s start it at least with the idea that you could walk around within this frame of consciousness, that you could be present in this continuum of time, and alter solutions to problems that previously were being solved by old methods of containment, and that were in reality at that moment, uncommunicative, alright, by addressing the certainty that the conceptual mind can, at any moment, recognize his own wholeness, in relationship to what everything is. So let’s look together, using the light, that’s being reflected, right here at this time, in this teachers manual of A Course in Miracles. Is peace possible in this world? Listen. How is peace possible in this world? This is a question everyone must ask. And he is asking it, and we all ask it. Don’t we? Certainly peace seems to be impossible here. Yet the Word of God promises other things that seem impossible, as well as this. Could you hear that? His Word has promised peace. It has also promised that there is no death, that resurrection must occur, and that rebirth is man’s inheritance. The world you see cannot be the world God loves, and yet His Word assures us that He loves the world. God’s Word has promised that peace is possible here, and what He promises can hardly be impossible. Listen. But it is true that the world must be looked at differently, if His promises are to be accepted. What the world is, is but a fact. You cannot choose what this should be. Listen. But you can choose how you would see it. Indeed you must choose this. Look at me. The idea that peace is possible, within this world, cannot not begin with your idea of how you would like to share the peace and happiness that you found within this world, in our relationships with each other. That is a transformative occurrence in the world, and the transformative occurrence that is going on in the second coming, in this new age of reality, will and did occur, one, because it affords us a new relationship in space/time, where we momentarily communicate in our entirety, which gives us another reason for being here. And this acknowledges, as we just red you that heretofore the reason was to die, and God denied it. The reason was to deny the resurrection, and God asserts it, the reason that you can be whole and perfect as you were created, and heretofore you have not been able to find it. Are you listening to me? This is the time and place where you found it. When you carry this about with you, in the next forty days, let’s use that as a parameter, one, it’s impossible you will not begin to run into other teachers of God, who have accepted, in a very fundamental sense, responsibility for their own conversion. OK. One of the requirements, that we just red you, was to relinquish judgment, in the idea of how it can come about. We have a great many conceptual minds practicing the idea that they can contact God directly, through prayer they can have all of their wishes justified and verified, and it’s true, and they are. The problem is not that, the problem is that any moment heretofore, your human condition cannot and was not able fully to accept the idea of what he really wanted. Come on. I know all humans very well, having been one, in my past. I am back here telling you that the practice of relinquishing judgment will come about, very simply because all of your judgment was always false. You can’t be separate from the Universe; you are not separate from what everything is. And I am directing my attention specifically to you, because the answer is specifically in you, in your relationship with me, at this moment, and with the guy next to you. OK. If the association next to you, that you have peopled, see this, within your own idea about yourself, is actually next to you, what he is offering you, and cannot not be offering you, through the laying down of our judgment, is a moment of the sharing of Love and peace that we are. The idea that my savior Jesus, promised to be with us here, now, and present in this condition, to show us that God was in our relationship, not something that should be objectively feared, in this world, is the complete teaching of the New Testament. So, peace and happiness abide in you, because you are whole and perfect, as you were created. Listen. So. Again we come to the question of judgment. This time ask yourself whether your judgment or the Word of God is more likely to be true. For they say different things about the world, and things so opposite that it is pointless to try to reconcile them. If you can hear this you can leave this world right about now. God offers the world salvation; your judgment would condemn it. God says there is no death; your judgment sees but death as the inevitable end of life. God’s word assures you that He loves the world; your judgment says it is unlovable. Who is right? Look at it. For one of you is wrong. It must be so. So I am very interested in why you, in your particulars, want to deny, by the adventure of your conceptual self and the power of yourself to remain sick and die, must deny the fundamental reality of a single source. The truth of the matter is you don’t do it, what you do is avoid the responsibility for your own conversion. You got me teaching just a little bit here. OK, the idea that you are whole and perfect, as you were created, is inevitable, if there is a single Source of Reality, creating eternally, all the time, that’s a fact of the matter. All I am offering you is a non compromising reasonable process, where you can arrive at the conclusion, that a wholly loving creating God has absolutely nothing to do with your conceptual self in this world, this directly from my savior Jesus. Not only that, but the solution, since it cannot lie in the entirety of God, who knows nothing of it, must lie, where, in our associations with each other. God is present with us, through the mind of Jesus, the Holy Spirit; we call this, instructing us, on a continuing bases, to the miracle that’s going on all around us, here and now. Practice. There, for that moment, perhaps, you relinquished judgment of this old guy, who seems to be participating in a body form with you. What do my credentials say, that I am seventy five years old, or thirty, or a thousand years old? What are you doing? You are examining our relationships of past references in the body, in order to identify our bodies separate from each other. The offering of the miracle healing, is just for a moment, to see the entirety of the wholeness of us, not only in the time that we represent, but in the space that we occupy. Do you see that? Is peace possible in this world? Yes, but you remember this, it begins with you, it begins in your mind, and in your heart. Now, initially with the compassion, that we feel, in attempting to serve the world, to look at all the suffering, that’s going on in this world, and attempt to abate it, without the admission that it, fundamentally, cannot be an idea of God. You see, here is the ambiguity, isn’t it? Here is a paradox that cannot be reconciled, that I am offering you within the teachings of this lesson, that is to say, one or the other is not true. If you are whole and perfect, as you were created, and can share eternal happiness forever, it cannot be connected to the idea that you can be sick and suffer, because that would simply eliminate the idea that you are whole and perfect. If there is something other than perfection and wholeness and Eternal Life, there is no Eternal Life. That’s how simple this is. One more sentence before the break we are coming up, we are going to have to, we do these for television. I just got a signal that the first thirty minutes of this hour is going to be over. Listen. Now. The text explains that the Holy Spirit is the Answer to all problems you have made. These problems are not real, but that is meaningless to those who believe in them. And everyone believes in what he made, for it was made by his believing it. Here we go. Into this strange and paradoxical situation,-one without meaning and devoid of sense, yet out of which no way seems possible,- God has sent His Judgment to answer yours. What a lovely idea, that you’ve accepted, within your parameter of self realization, the idea that what I am offering you is true. In effect in the miracle proceeding, using the power of light, I am stimulating in you alterations of the judgment you have held, in the idea of particle, the idea of the location of mass, the idea that the power of Universal Mind could be contained in separate objective associations of mind, and therein justified in associations of conceptual value, none of which are true. OK, I am right here now, telling you that all of your ideas about yourself, at any single moment, contain the whole answer to every problem that you will ever have.
