1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe
in God, believe also in me.
|
Verse 1 Relax! You can
believe in Jesus!
|
|
2
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if
it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you.
|
Verse 2 Mansion is
a place to live! Yes, Jesus is looking out for you. He’s already
done everything that needs to be done!
|
|
3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also.
|
Verse 3 Be happy! Look,
it’s just reasonable! If He’s prepared a place, it’s for you
to join him!
|
|
4
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye
know.
|
Verse 4 You are from
Heaven. How do you know the way? Because Jesus has already told
you!
|
|
5 Thomas saith unto him,
Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
|
Verse 5 Thomas, the
"worrying" disciple, loves Jesus dearly, – he’s just a little
unsure of himself yet! Like you sometimes, right? |
|
6 Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
|
Verse 6 No worries, mate!
Even if you’re not sure yet, Jesus is! You know Jesus – so,
you know the way! He’s your example, your guide! |
|
7
If ye had known me, ye should have known my
Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him
|
Verse 7 Can you see
it’s just a matter of acceptance? You do know Jesus, and so
you do know God! Let it be true for you!
|
|
8 Philip saith unto him,
Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
|
Verse 8 Hasn’t Philip
"heard" anything? Maybe he just doesn’t want to!
|
|
9 Jesus saith unto him,
Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
|
Verse 9 Why is Philip
asking, "Show us the Father?" Not only is he not listening to
Jesus – he refuses to believe Him!
Take a look at this in
your own mind! "I don’t get it," usually means, "I won’t accept
it." Don’t kid yourself! Unbelief only gets in your way! Go
right past it!
|
|
10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not
of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
|
Verse 10 You can
understand this verse! Jesus says, "I and my Father are one! The
words I speak come from my Father who lives in me! I live and move
in Him!" Now you say it: "I and my Father are one!"
|
|
11
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the
Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. |
Verse 11 Jesus is saying,
"Believe I am with my Father, and my Father is with me; and if
not, believe me on account of the miracles!"
|
|
12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater
works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. |
Verse 12 You are
the healer now because you are listening to Jesus!
It’s your decision – nobody is making you!
|
|
13
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that
will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
|
Verse 13 Somewhere,
although maybe you have forgotten, you did ask God for Help –
and you got it!
|
|
14
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will
do it.
|
Verse 14 Be grateful
you’ve been saved!
|
|
15
If ye love me, keep my commandments. |
Verse 15 Your love for
Jesus will keep you on target!
|
|
16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall
give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
|
Verse 16 Comforter
means one who comforts! God gives you the Holy Spirit to be with
you forever!
|
|
17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world
cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but
ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. |
Verse 17 The Spirit of
truth (the Holy Spirit) joins you with God! That is the
link that has never been broken! Jesus speaks for God and
you because He is one with you and God! This should make
you very happy!
|
|
18
I will not leave you comfortless: I will
come to you.
|
Verse 18 Good news, huh?
Yahoo!
|
|
19
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me
no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
|
Verse 19 The world
doesn’t see Jesus, but you are not of the world. You do see Him
( understand his message), and you live because
He lives!
|
|
20
At that day ye shall know that I am in my
Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
|
Verse 20 This is the
moment of your awakening and your resurrection!
There is only life!
|
|
21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth
them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be
loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself
to him.
|
Verse 21 "He who has my
commandments with him and obeys them, loves me; he who loves me
will know the love of my Father, and I will love him, and reveal
myself to him!" How’s your head? Wide open?
|
|
22 Judas saith unto him,
not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto
us, and not unto the world?
|
Verse 22 Judas (not Judas
Iscariot) is asking Jesus what He means! Don’t worry about it!
God’s got you – that’s all you need to know! |
|
23 Jesus answered and
said unto him, If a man love me,
he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will
come unto him, and make our abode with him. |
Verse 23 Our abode
with him means our home in God! You can be certain of Jesus’
love for you, and that He will never leave you – You are
His Home!
|
|
24
He that loveth me not keepeth not my
sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s
which sent me.
|
Verse 24 "He who does not
love me, does not keep my word; and this word which you hear, is
not my own, but the Father’s who sent me!"
|
|
25
These things have I spoken unto you, being
yet present with you. |
Verse 25 "I have spoken
these things to you, while I am with you!"
|
|
26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I
have said unto you.
|
Verse 26 The Holy Ghost
(Holy Spirit) is your link with God! He never forgets you! He
speaks for God and also for you, being joined with both! He offers
thanks to you for being who you are – God’s son!
|
|
27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto
you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart
be troubled, neither let it be afraid. |
Verse 27 It’s all right
here – right now! The Peace of God! Do not be afraid! You have
been given all the Help you need! Do you want peace? Peace comes
from God, not from the world! |
|
28
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go
away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice,
because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater
than I. |
Verse 28 "Remember, I
told you – I’d go away and be right back?! If you love me, be
happy about this, because I’m going to my Father! That’s good
news! We go together! Why? Because we’re the same!" Rejoice!
|
|
29
And now I have told you before it come to
pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
|
Verse 29 See? There’s no
sadness or worry in Jesus! He’s no longer "in the world!" His
kingdom is not of this world! Heaven is His home and yours! |
|
30
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for
the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. |
Verse 30 Prince of
this world means the tempter of mankind – the devil –
Judgment! There is no "devil" in Jesus! He’s free! |
|
31
But that the world may know that I love the
Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.
Arise, let us go hence.
|
Verse 31 Jesus knows
that nothing is going to happen to Him! He’s about our Father’s
business!
|
